room thermostat

I have myson room thermostats. They are manual with dials. The upstairs works fine but the downstairs has stopped working unless I press on the dial.
I want to take it off to see how many wires go into it so I can buy a new one but cannot get the cover off. I do not want to force it and end up with no hot water over Christmas.
Does anone have any ideas?

There is a clip to the left. I had tried it but it needed a bit more force. I have got the cover off and replaced it. Everything is fine.
