Hi

I am wanting to install a room thermostat into my central heating but unsure on how to wire it. I have done a diagram of my current wiring which is attached below, there is also a diagram of the internal wiring of the programmer.

I have looked into wiring diagrams which advise you to use a 10 way junction box but their zone valves had 6 cables coming out including an earth when mine has only 5 including the earth and the red and grey cables are not connected to anything. I would also like to install a cylinder stat if possible.

Could anyone please help me with a wiring diagram for this.

Cheers in advance

James

can you give us a bit more info, like boiler details, room details and type of system etc.

Looking at that diagram you appear to have a pumped system with a zone valve only on the heating side.

The thermostat will need to take the live from the CH on from timer and the switched live to the brown to the valve.

The other wires arent used on your zone valve as the pump and boiler will already be running. The brown only opens the valve.

Hi twgas I have a C-plan system, the boiler is a Potterton Flamingo 50s the programmer is in the airing cuboard and is a Sunvic select 207xl. I plan on getting a wireless thermostat and putting it in the living room.

Hi petit so it connects between Ch on and the valve, Ch on into the thermostat and the valve out.

Cheers for your responses

Sorry another question as I need to have my hot water on for my central heating will I need to leave the hot water on all the time I wish for the thermostat to work. If i wired it into the CH on I think I would.

Cheers

James
