I need to rotate this stop tap so that the handle is facing upwards. This is to allow space for an insinkerator.

Ill obviously isolate the water before I do anything, but can I just loosen the bolts on either side of the stopcock, and then rotate it around and then retighten?

I am not a plumber... but if you are talking about an isolating valve... I see no problem with loosening the two nuts to orientate the valve and then tighten it back up.

As @accelerator said. It would help proper plumbers to reply if you post an image.
