I've been using my Rotavator on the allotment fine but after 30 mins of using it, the engine fires up fine, but the blades now fail to go round with the clutch out?

Its a Briggs and Stratton motor, yellow rotavator, not sure of the model number, but didnt know whether this was a general problem with petrol ones or whether it had just overheated?

Any ideas what this could be?

No it seems on inspection that the bottom belt that drives the 2 arms has slipped off and broken

Its a Briggs Strattton Farmer 5001 rotavator, are these easy to re-fit yourself?

or does it need a technician?

You shouldn't have any problems with this - they are just like a poorly designed Meccano set really.
Check for a means of setting the belt tension.....there may be an adjustable idler pulley or one of the main pulleys may have some adjustment. Slacken this off before fitting the new belt, and then tighten it again.
John :)
