Our 15 year old terraced house has I-joists running from party wall to party wall. I'd like to run Ethernet from the front to back of the house and I suspect under a floor / above a ceiling will be the best way (although am open to other ideas!). We'll be having work done on part of the floor below the floor on which the Ethernet is required so there's some opportunity to access through the ceiling below but only for the back part of the house. From photos taken during some other recent work on a different floor, I know the plasterboard of the ceilings are mounted on front-back running steel slats (is that the right terminology?) which mean there's a slight gap between the ceiling and I-joists which looks like it could be useful to avoid needing to drill holes in each I-joist when running through the whole house, maybe I could get it through with a rod? Some other mains cables are already running in this way, possibly they're lighting cables fitted during this work and shouldn't have been done in that way as they're clearly vulnerable to damage from below...
Is my idea sensible? Is it particularly risky? I may run a few cables if I do it in that way for redundancy in case any do get damaged in the future. I'm open to any thoughts / insight / experience.
