RSJ Painting

Hi,
Do RSJ's need to be painted with any sort of paint before being installed?
Its just that we have had one installed over a new 3m French doors and they have not finished fitting plaster boards to the ceiling yet and they look like they have started to rust slightly.

Rsj's perform worse than wood when exposed to fire.

the beam should be painted to give min 30 fire protection http://www.paints4trade.com/firesteel-47-4-water-based-intumescent-fire-proof-paint-115-p.asp

2 sheets of 12.5mm gyproc gives 1 hour of protection as well.

You'll get a good 100 years out of them before they rust through
