I am planning on painting my timber framed DG windows.
They have a rubber gasket or seal all around the edge. The problem is the colour of this seal is brown and I was going to paint the windows grey.
The window company dont supply a grey seal and
I don't think it's advisable to paint the rubber.
Wondering if I can replace the rubber seal altogether with some silicon bead or could I use window putty to bed in the glazing behind the timber bead?
Or should is stick to original rubber and live with the colour difference.
Do these seals have a life expectancy - they are probably 20 years old but haven't given me any trouble. Some of the timber beading has warped a bit though.
