run off water connected to soil drain

Not sure what forum was best for this.

Just having conservatory built. It is being built right on the edge of my property so the guttering drop has had to be removed they are going to make this link ito the guttering of the conservatory and run down to the end where it will then go down into a new drain that they have linked in to the soil drain.

Can you do this i thought run off and soil had to be kept separate?

Rain water should go to soakaway.

IMHO, rain water should first go to a water butt, then to a soak away.

Depends on how old your house and town are. In some areas it is common to have combined foul and rain drains; more modern ones don't do that. Your local drains & water co will have some rules.
