running slow - for no apparant reason

we have just had the NTL box moved and the internet is running very slow now, could it have been when the actual pc was moved?

Is there anything else between your PC and the NTL box? Has the cabling changed? If so, are they longer cables?
How does the PC connect to the NTL box?
Is it only the speed of downloads on the internet that's changed or is it something else?

the pc hasnt changed the only thing is the position in the house, so i dont see how thats relevant, but thanks for the sarcasm! but the cable is now twice as long as before, could this be the problem?

Softus is correct. With the information provided, it's difficult to determine anything. PCs are dynamic beasts, they change EVERY time you boot.
