Russell Hobbs Toaster Model 10617

This toaster has torx, external, 6 lobe fixing screws. My set of special sockets doesn't include one suitable, Russell Hobbs want the unit back to investigate but it's out of warranty and they don't supply spares. Any ideas where to source a socket to remove the screws? I don't know the size.

How much did it cost, unless it's a Dualit (which it's not), probably a straight replacement.

you can pick up Torx drivers in any pound shops and market tool stalls for hardly anything nowadays.

Whats the symptoms with your toaster.

The bread spring loaded arrangement has gone all floppy, I suspect it just requires re-attachment, it still works but the bottom left hand side is not level with the right hand side in the up position. Russell Hobbs offer a 40% discount of the retail price for a replacement if out of warranty, it cost about £60 but I wouldn't buy another. It looks nice but not reliable, mine is 3 years old.

Following on for my post problem. I bought a set of torx external sockets for £8 and .........they don't fit. They are different in the "shape" although with the same 6 lobes! A search brings up the same complaints regarding lack of access with this model of toaster.

I have used epoxy resin to glue the tray attachment back into place, so far with 100% success!

I'll be careful now, not to buy any appliances requiring special screws!

Upyours Russell and Hobbs
