Russian crooks getting nervous

The UK has previously been very hospitable to international crooks and gangsters wishing to launder their wealth and invest in multi-million London homes. They are at little risk of prosecution or assassination.

Like tax avoidance, money laundering is almost by definition, difficult to stop, as the whole point is to exploit the rules to the advantage of the person needing their laundry done and tax avoided.

What is not clear, is whether the UK expects to gain from cooperating with Putin. No doubt he'll be wanting the keys to the property etc that was "stolen" from the russian "tax" payer. I personally don't see the downside of Russian money coming in to the UK. These properties generate a fair bit of tax income.

I know there are a lot of people that can't afford to live in London, but I don't see this as a problem the state should be fixing by giving them subsidised housing. If you expect the state to contribute to your rent, then depending on other factors, as a tax payer, I'd be expecting the state to have a say in where/what etc it contributes to.

Hundreds of billions are laundered every year by just about anyone that has any reason to want to launder money and has the facility to do so. It's not exclusively any racial group. The government/intelligence services know exactly what is going on. They allow it. Whose to blame for that?

It's no different to me saying all the worst swindlers are Jews, it's meaningless without evidence.

You need to stop John. You've been better since last year but be mindful not to slip back into your old habits.
 
It's actually reckoned that the real reason the price of property went up so much in London, was all the overseas dodgey money pouring in, and much of it was coming from the Chinese as well as the Russians. Once the property gets sold, the cash is then clean.

John D berates foreigners coming here if they are Russian and have have lots of money. The type who are rich and spend their own wealth whilst here, boosting the economy. If you criticise penniless, unskilled, people coming here, who have nothing to offer he will say you hate foreigners. Poor old John D, correct, (y).
