Can someone give me a rough idea of how much sand I would need to make a sand bed for paving slabs for a shed base

I'm getting a 12 x 6 ft shed, depending on what size slabs I get (400mm or 450mm) the area covers by the slabs will be either 8m2 or 9.11m2 and I want to lay a 4cm bed of sand

400mm slabs - 4m x 2m x 4cm = 0.32m3

450mm slabs - 4.05m x 2.5m x 4cm = 0.36m3

if I go off the greater of the two - 0.36m3 how much sand is needed
am looking at getting the 25kg bags of sharp sand and mixing 8:1 with cement for a dry bed, just dont know how much sand to get??

can anyone help?

You'll need about 700KG. Best bet is to buy a tonne bag of sharp sand, probably 40 quid delivered from a builders merchant. You can then loose the rest as top dressing for you lawn etc.

buying it in small bags (28) will probably cost you anywhere between 60 and 100 quid not to mention if you only have a car it'll be two trips at least.
