I've just laid some brand new pine floorboards. The room is about 11' by 11'. Would I be stark raving bonkers to give this a light sanding by hand instead of hiring an expensive sanding machine?

Sanding new floorboards

I assume they are unfinshed but planed? if so i don't see why not if you have the time on your hands! Don't do it if you are planning to stain them a darker shade though as stain will take differently to areas that are different smoothness and sanding by hand will probably leave more variance.
