Advice please! Im refurbishing my house at present & and not sure whether to sand the existing floors or fit new solid oak flooring. I know theres a few pros and cons, but what do you guys think?

And the existing floorboards are??? Pine, in good nick, in a very bad state? varnished/lacquered/coloured? In all rooms, in one room (which room?)

It would help if you gave us a tiny little bit more info

Hi Mate,
Yes they are yr standard pine floorboards in a 1920s house. They are in pretty poor condition as over the years where plumbers etc have hacked through them. However one company explained that they use reclaim boards, but this obviously puts the price up. Can pine look as good as oak? The boards have not been varnished etc and I was thinking of doing all downstairs.
Cheers

Revamping knackered pineboards is difficult to get a good result, plus is a softwood and tends to turn orange when a natural finish is applied.

Cheers maybe solid oak would be the best option then!
