Are these macerators any good and how likley are they to pack up (if installed by a competent installer). On a scale of 1-10, how noisy are they and would you like one against a 1 brick thick party wall that you share with your neighbours bedroom?

Only fit the commercial version The SaniBest - not much more in price. The domestic range is bad. They block far too easily and it is a messy job clearing it. The Sanisplit commercial version is OK too. The Sanisplit is a better design as the electrical side just clips off.

My experience of one was that is was quiet. This was because it was in a cupboard behind the bathroom on the other side of a brick wall. A back to wall toilet in an en-suite went rough the wall to the unit on the other side, so did the drains of the shower and basin. The unit was in an airing cupboard and it was in lidded wooden unit at the bottom. The clothes and cupboards kept the noise right down. I believe they also put rockwool under the bathroom and cupboard floors to reduce noise to the rooms below too. Worked a treat.

Others may comment on the units that are in the bathrooms directly on the toilet.
