Sash window prep and paint advice

I'm in the process of restoring an old sash window. I've removed both sashes Removed glass and old putty and stripped several layers of paint Back to the wood.

I've got a few questions regarding preparing the frames for painting and glazing.

Linseed oil: the wood frame on the sashes looks sound but a little dry in places so I was considering using some boiled linseed oil to rub in to the wood to prevent further drying out before I paint.

Will using boiled linseed have an adverse affect on the primer and paint options that I intend to use and would I be best using an oil based paint.

I was considering using this primer and paint based on reviews however it's water based so I'm not sure how good it will be in the long run and if I can even use it in conjunction with the linseed oil.

Any advice appreciated[/b]
