I have just painted my old magazine rack with two coats of Johnsons satin wood paint. It looks so nice now I dont want it getting chipped as this would only show the mahogany colour up underneath, I have painted it cream. I have some Yatch varnish, can I give it a final coat in this to protect from scratches etc? Would this take ok over satin wood paint.

I will await your answers before I go ahead. Thanks. :) :)

Give it a light rub down first to give it a key.

The only thing is using oil based varnish, it will yellow pretty quick...water

You might be better of just giving it a cople more coats of the satin wood...yacht varnish isnt any harder than normal varnish or paint its just more flexible
