Scantronic 9651 keypad issue

Hi,

Many thanks in advance for your help. I've had. A 9651 for about 8 year all working fine. Then I had some builders round for a few months and the alarm was powered down.

It appears there are no errors now, aside from the fact that the ABCD buttons appear to do nothing except make the display go blank. They don't beep or work for any other input. Is it possible these keys are broken? Ever heard of this before? It means I am unable to use the zones which are set.

First step ...take the keypad apart clean the rubber mat and the carbon tracks (meths and a cotton bud ) if that does not solve it ....replace keypad

Thanks! I'm a bit of a newbie...any procedure I have to do before I take it apart so that the alarm doesn't go off?

Ever replaced the battery? I bet not, that is the first thing to do Old Batts. can cause a number of strange faults.

Batts should be replaced every 4 to 5yrs max.

What does it matter if it 'goes off?' That is what alarms are supposed to do if they are tampered with. isn't it?

The alarm does not know what is happening until all commands have been entered to allow working.

By the way it should only be making a noise indoors in this situation.
