Scantronic 9800 Panel Backup Battery

Hi,

Scantronic 9800.

I have the Bf fault code. So have removed the old Panel Backup battery which was an Ultracell UL2.4-12 (2.4 Amp Hour/20 hours).

It seems a popular choice for Alarm Panels is the 'Yuasa NP7-12', a larger battery but one that is 7 amp hours. This will fit inside the alarm panel casing, so I am wondering whether it is OK to use this.

Also, some of my keys on the Remote Key Pad don't work, does anyone know where a replacement can be found?

Good point, the one I removed was an Ultracell 2.4 amp hour dated Dec 2006 in black marker pen on the side.. lasted well

No chance on the keypad ! You can still buy the 9800 + keypad BUT it's cheaper to replace the panel.... You could try cleaning the keypad mat but you will have to take the keypad apart..

Hi again,

Just won a 9827 KeyPad on Ebay for £35 inc delivery.

Does anyone know the (baby) steps I need to follow to remove my old 9800 keypad and replace with this one. I can't see any screws etc on the existing keypad, does it just 'prise' off the backplate?>

I do NOT have the engineers code. I could reset the NVM, but can the keypad be changed without doing this?

Screwdriver in bottom lip it will pop off enter code to stop rt remote tamper , disconnect wires and swop over... Make sure your new keypad is set at same address...

You'd be best powering it down while you swap.

Power up, usually recommend battery first - although I don't know why.

If you power the whole thing down (battery and mains) the outside bell will sound until power is restored. There is also a very, very slim chance of the panel defailting.

I'd be inclined to just remove the old battery, fit the new one, close the panel and reset the tamper.

Be careful not to short anything if you do the keypad live... Swap one wire over at a time - I'd suggest doing the V+ first, then the 0V and finally SIG.

That's the way to do it, couldn't be simpler, in my time I've changed ??????s of batts. It's not rocket science, or dangerous.

Don't turn the mains off (Why do that? It's only dangerous if you are foolish enough to touch anything else other than the battery and its connections.)

Open panel

Cancel tamper alarm with your code

Remove from the battery the leads making its connection to the panel
Connect the new battery.

Observing the polarity, Red lead to Red connection, Black lead to black connection on the battery, easy isn't it.

Close the panel, enter your code.

Done

Difficult isn't it?

Never had or heard of an NVM doing that.
