Irish music is well known and much loved, but the Scots have many great tunes also, post your favourites here.

I miss the time when New Year's Eve telly was entirely Scottish. And drunk! We now have more immigrants from the other side of the globe than we do Scots, thanks to a series of governments that hate us.

Anyway, Andy Stewart...

You just can't help yourself, can you.

Your every waking moment is consumed with hatred, isn't it.

An early grave beckons....

Leezy Lindsay, a well known song North of the border: this is the best version I’ve heard…. by an Irish band

Beating the English is one of the most popular topics in Scottish songs. 'Johnny Cope' is an ancient song about the Battle of Prestonpans, in which forces led by Bonnie Prince Charlie slaughtered English troops. The song rubs it in for poor Johnny Cope, the English commander.

(Planxty are an Irish group of course, but the song is Scottish. Theirs is the best version of many).
