Scrap the house of Lords?

It's the beginning of the end of benefit dependency. Life as we know it will end when the country goes bust - as go bust it must.
It's just 'deckchairs on the Titanic' I'm afraid. We don't need a house of review - we need action.

We can afford to run a deficit for another 5 years, maybe even 10, we are not Greece, we have a powerful economy.

I am certainly not saying we should.


But frankly to scrap a system that has given birth to a country that has more freedoms than most, and a better law system than most (still far from perfect but better than most).

Because of "public opinion" (aka what the tabloids say).


And of course you do realise that to make such a change would require a referendum, and an alternate system to be devised.


The former is hardly going to happen quickly, and as to the latter, you actually want this lot in charge now to sit down and determine the new government system, do go look up your history and the enabling act of 1933, there is nothing to say that's what we won't get.
