Unrepairable, if it was an accident contact your house insurance. ;) ;)

If it’s a steel or cast iron bath, it’s very unlikely to be a resin (fibreglass) finish; it’ll be an enamelled finish. There re specialist firms that will repair or re-enamel baths but it’s likely to be rather expensive. You could fill & paint it but it will be visible; a DIY repair is not really feasible & unlikely to last long.

Your location shows UK yet you say your insurance excess is in Euros  ? & an excess of 1000 Euros

'Fraid so - my insurance company had to pay out a large sum (largely due to their incompetence from the outset of the claim)

Hence the ridiculously high premium/excess

I assumed it was a resin finish bonded to the metal as a solid cast iron bath would be very expensive (the former owners didn't spend a great deal on the property so can't see them lashing out for expensive bath)

Anyone have any ideas on how to repair this?

Try some Gelcoat from a chandlers. There are many shades of white which a boat repairer would be able to match so it will be pot luck if it matches your bath. Other than that use araldite or resin and Humbrol enamel in little pots to match it. Use very fine grades of wet & dry to polish it. No different from repairing a boat.

i had a chip similar in my enamel steel bath and used a repair kit like the one linked to above. It lasts about 3 months each go before it comes off.
