Hi,

have gratefully recieved help so far on this (noseall and redherring2 in particular) and equipment and sand etc coming sat am so need to do the screeding of my slab tommorrow , spent the afternoon trying to organise the levels and havent got very far.

i started with a datum line but that was inpossible to do all around as a staircase in way and other items. also messed about with a laser but not found much use.
Problem is that a square room in middle of house with at one end opposite doors into adjacent rooms which have different floor heights of about 1 inch. it was an old flagstone floor and must have been sloped but i hadn't noticed previously.

the doors are at one end and at the other is a fireplace which i can use to get a level off which means i can run a string in a triangular shape if needed to get old levels

I am now thinking i may need to start accross the 2 doorways, leave a channel for walking in and then try to transfer the gradient to the rest of the room. doing the edges first and filling in, in a more free hand fashion.

alternatively do it all flat and leave a 1 inch step to the back room, remove and rehang door to fit over step.

any advise how to approach this would be very welcome.

well and truly confuddled,

truman

just been informed their used to be a step into the back room so will carry on without trying to matching the levels and having a drunk floor.
