My sister has an AA brand tyre inflater with screw on connector. You get the tyre inflated to the pressure you want but unscrewing from the valve, you're letting the air back out before the valve closes.

A lot of them seem to have screw on connectors rather than flip lever quick release, the flip lever release being far better in my opinion.

I think the volume of air lost would be minimal so long as the cap was unscrewed swiftly......the flip lever types dont always seal when wear sets in so maybe the screw type is better where the air delivery is slow, i.e from a foot pump?

Well, those inflators never have an accurate gauge on them anyway so I’d suggest over inflating it by a few psi and then letting it down to the correct pressure using a digital tyre gauge. You are supposed to over inflate and then let down to the correct pressure anyway.
