Anybody know what thread the top screw here is? Bottom is M4 for comparison.

It could be 1/8" B.S.W it's certainly not B.A, thread far too coarse.

I don't think it's 1/8" BSW, having found my caliper it's 32TPI and exactly 3.84mm major diameter. 5/32"?
 
Nearest would be 7-32 ASME - dia is 3.835mm and 32 pitch but this is a very obscure thread.

If its of a bike then 5/32x 32tpi CEI (Cycle Engineers Institute.) thread is very likely, used gor mudgaurd eyes and bottle cages, its 3.97 dia

possibly a loosly cut 8-32 UNC which is also 32tpi and 4.16mm.


Its not far off 3BA but thats 34.8tpi so hardly far too coarse

The application it is intended for, and the country of origin may give some clues.

It's for earthing the drop rod on a ceiling fan. I'm unsure where the unit was manufactured, but it is from a UK based company.
