I have purchased sash mortice locks from Screwfix; I usually mark the spindle and key holes by hand; squaring the marks from the front edge around to the sides prior to drilling the hole.
This time I decided to use the printed leaflet template supplied; guess what; the holes were drilled as per template; the template held by masking tape to avoid any movement and when the lock was offered into the door the holes were out of position by 6mm.
The moral here...place your lock onto the template and check first and don't believe the manufacturer; some of them obviously do not check what they make and sell.
