Screwfix towel warmer

I fitted one of these last month and thought at the time that they where expecting a lot as the brackets are plastic! A chrome tube screws to the wall then a smaller tube is attached to the rad ( 4 in all ) which slides into the wall mounted one and is secured underneath with a self tapper. Two have slit along the top front to back...Screwfix are sending new ones but surely these will do the same ? is it usual for the brackets to be plastic ? the rad is 4ft high stainless steel with curved towel rails about 2.5ft wide.

It slotted in ok so the alignment must be right.
