Hi,

I'm fixing some superquilt onto a conservatory roof and need to screw through the insulation in places. Problem is the fibres from the insulation are wrapping round the screw which is causing a bit of trouble.

Does anyone have any ideas for stopping the fibres from wrapping round the screws?

Hi,

I don't know how it will work in your case, but the advice I've seen (for lofts), is to fix battens over the quilt (nailed) and then anything to be screwed attaches to the battens.
This also has the advantage of getting an air gap on both sides of the quilt; allowing better performance.

Hi,

Thank you. I've got battens on like you say the same as for lofts but unfortunately I've a few places where I still need to screw through the insulation as I can't nail it as it's to fragile. . I going to try and see if wrapping tape round the screw will help.

You might try placing screw thru a straw if you tape the tape still spins collecting the fibres.
