screws for radiators

Hi All,

Can someone please advise on the plugs and screw sizes I should be using for radiator brackets. I am fixing 1600 x 600 single rads to plasterboard that is glued to blocks.

First suggestion was going to be some 150mm star fix but I thought wouldve been over kill

How about 6" pipe nails??

a friend advised 60mm and number 5. Seems too big based on the discussion above?

I'd go with what your friend has advised. Need to get through the plasterboard into the block behind

If it's "Dot and Dab" I always use Dryline Pro fixings, superb, never had a problem.

no8 frame fixers in 100/150mm in to the block - they are only £2 a pack of 10 and you'll know it will be secure.

do you know how big the rad is ??

Drill holes where fixing is and make sure the 7mm rawplug is in the block and use 80mm no5 to secure it.

made me lol,
the DIY'ers choice, went to a job once where someone had tried to secure the squeaky floor boards upstairs with nails before his new carpets went in, created himself a nice internal water feature
