Screws

Hi, I had a question. I am putting timber shelves on the wall. I am using this black wood screw. Which plug should I use? The screw fits flush on the yellow one but goes through halfway through the red.

red: 6mm
Yellow: 5mm

I think the screw is 40/50mm in length

Knock the plug in as far as it will go

you need to know the shank size black tend to be say no4 or no six x 25-35mm and not much use for shelves ??
did the screws come with the shelve ??
