Hi,

I was just wondering - can I use an SDS drill bit on a regular/hammer drill?

Or is there something special about SDS drill bits and they will not fit this drill?

Thanks,

the sds bits are tougher than straight shank so no problem there, what about the jaws of the chuck?

SDS bits should not be used in ordinary hammer drills. The grooves on the side of the SDS bits usually mean a normal chuck won't hold them centrally. ;) ;)

They are not cut at the same angle either. Buy the right tool for the job - it's only a few pennies.

You can cut the end off and they will go in a normal drill if you are stuck.

lol :D not gonna try it. Just bought right drill bit. Had a problem with drilling 10-15cm holes (6mm dia)... all drill bits in homebase, b&q etc are only 12cm long or max 15.. unless looking into SDS that are much longer. Went to independent shop and got the right drill bit :)

Thanks
