Just laid some vinyl flooring and the people in the shop said two things:

- make us you don't get water under it as it will blow
- don't apply sealant to the edges as it traps moisture

Surely dealing the edges will stop moisture entering?

Also, there's one edge that I messed up slightly and will have to seal it to make it look even. The other 3 edges I can live with but would love to seal them if it's ok. What do you reacon?

You should follow the instruction guide with the product, not all products are laid the same, but saying that I have always fully covered floor with adhesive when adhesive required. Can't see why you would leave the perimitter edges dry!

Loose laid is fine, sealing the edges to the skirtings etc with silicone sealant is fine to stop moisture getting under it, the only thing is that fitting at this time of year, there's more liklihood of the vinyl expanding a bit if loose laid so you may wish to allow it to settle for a few weeks before sealing the edges.
