Sealing around the top of the bath.

Whats the best way to seal the gap around the top of the bath.
as the wall isnt true there is a gap of up to 10mm at some points.
i intend to tile down to the edge.
I've used the tile trip stuff, with a flexible edge but still end up with water penetration and a bit of mould.
I also pump the gaps full of sealant and fill the bath to stop any movement. never seems quite right tho.
any ideas?... i dont mind paying extra rather than the cheaper flexible wickes/b and q type strips.

Masking tape both side and wet finger to smooth it out then remove the masking tape and final smooth over again with your wet finger! Best to fill the bath with water at the same time and when dried empty the water.
