I have a toilet which discharges into a cast iron waste pipe. I have tried various silicon sealants to seal toilet waste but I always end up with a slight weep after a few weeks. Because of work involved/cost etc am unable to do away with iron waste. Also not able to connect plastic waste adaptor. I really need something to seal gap between toilet outlet and iron pipe?

Whatever you do use make sure the surfaces are dry before you start.
If theres any movement in the WC then it will be difficult to seal so make sure the pot is secure if you want a lasting job.

The old joint will be putty and tarred rope. There's probably half a dozen names for it but we used to call it tarry marlin
