The glass pane has dropped on the right hand side leaving a gap of 1cm.

Would you all recommend I seal it using glaziers putty.

would work - but you could remove the trim and seal all round properly

Why has it dropped? Is the sash frame drooping? 10mm is an awfully big gap glass is normally cut a lot tighter than that to the rebate which suggests that the sash itself may need some attention

the more i look at it the more it looks like a diy bodge as a replacement sash then further bodged over the years
is it a sliding or a pivot opening window??

its a builder/carpenters job as it need removing glass and all reconstructed/repaired /re-wedged repainted and reglazed

just to add you must satisfy yourself that it is decay and repair that has caused the gap
by twisting the wood at the top or bottom to see if it gives or feel right or wrong
a picture off the bottom rail may help including underneath
