Been asked by a mate to fix a couple of broken panes of glass in his door, they are around 1m tall x 300mm wide panes.

The old glass has been removed, they were held in with putty and glazing trims and pinned.

Could I use a flexible sealant ? silicon? to seal the replacements back in, instead of using putty or is putty the only way to go?

The door doesn't get weathered, as there is a large canopy protecting it.

TIA

Thanks, presume you mean something like this:

Glazing Silicon
not sure about that stuff.

You are best fitting some new timber beads.

bed the glass on low mod silicone, then glaze and fit beads with some silicone and pins

if it’s going to get painted you need to keep silicone away from surfaces intended to be painted or use MS polymer type silicone

I wouldn’t use putty.
