Sealing Radiator tails

There seems to be a debate over whether to use PTFE or a jointing compound.PTFE seems a cleaner solution,but perhaps the compound is more secure?Any suggestions please.

NB These are new parts and rads.

there is no debate, sealing compond won't work on rad tails & they will leak, ptfe or loctite 55 every time, if they leak using ptfe then you haven't put enough on
 
i always tape and a little smear of paste. had a few too many leaks with tape alone.

no probs, what you have to remember is a rad tapping is a parallel thread not a tapered one so the when the ptfe starts to squash up as you tighten it makes a washer which is what seals it, sealing compound such as boss white will only work on a tapered fitting
