Hi All,

I am sure this is not a new problem. When the double glazing was installed (15 years ago) the fitters used a sealant of some kind but within a reasonably short time the plastic had separated from the reveal and the sill. I have tried decorators caulk and good old polyfilla but they also seem to separate. Have not yet tried silicon sealant - good/bad idea? Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

Bob

No to silicone, it won't take paint.

A tube of CT1 and a can of the multi solve will make a nice strong join, that can flex, and can be painted. Costs a bit more for the sealant, and then the spray can to make it spread nicely, but worth it if you need to do a few windows and doors.

These are the products, but MUCH better pricing should be available locally! Think I paid about half that.

Thanks Phatboy having read the blurb and some reviews I am sure you are right. Am I correct in assuming the solvent is purely for ensuring a clean surface to apply the CT1?

It's great for removing old silicone, but (As I think it advises), you apply a bead of CT1, then apply the spray and it stops it spreading everywhere your finger goes, and leaves a nice tight bead of sealant. 99% chance it won't crack ever again!

Thanks again for your help, now just need to get the fateful finger under control.
