Hello, I have a chance to rewire the landing/stairwell lighting as it is going to be completely replastered at some point soon.

What we would like to do is have the switches illuminated so that they can be found in the dark without disturbing anyone else.

I found this thread but its in the wrong forum.

The light linked to in that thread is discontinued (pity I already have 2 of them in use) and I'd like to find something else.

I am pretty sure that I want a 1 way, 2 way and 3 way switch.

And yes - all use with CFL lights.

I have tried Google and the links given are ALL for discontinued or unavailable stuff.

I posted 1 link from Dealxtreme that has one, there is also:

But DX is an el cheapo chinese site where stuff is very cheap (this is now sounding like an add for dx lol) so am not sure if its going to meet UK standards.

An alternative would be to illuminate some existing switches, having worked in electronic assembly for many years I don't see that as a problem to do - more a case of what to do.

If the TLC link isn't right for you then you are on the wrong forum.

What about timer switches?

If not, then you will need two 2-way and an intermediate.

I will be switching top light - 2 switches, middle light - 2 switches, bottom light - 2 switches so do not need an intermediate - however the middle/hallways switch will need to be a 3 way as it will be switching 3 lights.

Just discussed timer switches - and no - dont want to make it more complicated than it is and we dont want to be stuck to a time (although it will help with the attic dwellers upstairs leaving the light on).

Ah, I think you edited that post after I started a reply riveralt, yes that might help. However it does have bad reviews and its got 2 neons in it - the link to the technical stuff does not have the wiring diagram for it. How would that work?

And it would be IMO no use on the 2 way one as we want to have each switch individually illuminated - different colours would be even better :)

Top
one 1-gang 2-way

Middle
one 3-gang two 2-way.

Bottom
one 2-gang 2-way

If I have understood correctly.

The last time I was in Tortola the voltage was the US standard 110v 60Hz.
Maybe you should be looking at American web sites?

Have a look in St Thomas USVI, the next time you take the ferry from West End.

The neon lights stay on permanently but can only clearly be seen during darkness.
I don't have the instructions but I would suspect that you need a live and neutral at each switch for it to work. So since you are rewiring already it should be a doddle.

Yes that's about it.

Although getting to £22+ for 2 illuminated switches has raised eyebrows so I think I'll also take a trip to the local electrical wholesaler.

Cheers.

Mattylad. As you should know, Clarence Thomas is the only place you can try. They may have something.
If you aren't sure, they are in Pasea, near the tennis club.

Hows the hurricane season going?

PS The Full Moon Party at Trellis Bay next weekend looks promising. The Razorblades will be playing, and Moko Jumbies, of course.

TTC, I think your taking the location too seriously.

I just want to be on an island full of virgins, unfortunately i'm not - I'm in Lancashire :)

So is the falsehood in your profile meant to be a joke?

I actually have a very good sense of humour, but I can't see what's funny about claiming you are somewhere you are not.
