Hi guys

I am trying to secure a loose stair tread. Every time we walk down the stairs it bangs on this one step. I have removed the carpet and discovered two nails either side. I added some screws to try and secure but it is still loose.

Im asuming the Stair tread is secure.... if you can find out where its banging against, and there is a gap, appart from when you put full body wieght on it apply / fill the gap with some silicone.... leave it to set completeley prior to walking on it... this will stop if not reduce the banging noise....

If the thread is loose, then try access underneath if possible... you will find some angled timber braces that join the tread to the riser... these more often than not come loose from kicking...

Hope that helps..
