If you've had a gander at any of my recent threads you may remember i've removed the 2 radiators out of our living room as the plasterers are in.

The big radiator has had a leak at some point as the carpet had water marking under it as did the boards. Not sure where that leak is/was from. However, those pipes seem to be A-ok for now.

The small radiator however, the TRV head side is ok, but the other side that connects into the radiator is leaking. I've capped off with a 1/2" blanking cap & i turned the valve on top - exact same as i did on the big radiator. This one has started leaking though.

Is there anything i should be checking? Everything is tight so i don't get it. Could i have over-tightened & broke something which may cause this? It's not a quick leak. I don't have the tools for tightening so couldn't do anything tonight - i had to loan them from work. Just had to wrap a rag around it & put a plastic tub under it.

Plasterers SHOULD be done by end of Friday so radiators could go back on then. They got put back though so i'm hoping it doesn't span into Monday.

If you have blanked the thread without using ptfe tape then that would explain the leak. In other words if you have not used paste or tape on the threaded side, then just screwed the cap on it will leak because water will just wind it`s way around the threads and escape especially under pressure, thus, the leak.Your valve has failed and water is passing, only thing to do is drain heating system on that side, that`s for another day,I`ve gone on long enuff.

Thanks. No I didn't use any tape or paste when blanking. That said, I didn't on the other radiator piping which has been fine. Was I just lucky with that one then?
