Hi

We have had a new boiler which was connected into the existing system about 3 weeks ago, however when one of the radiators are off there is a leak from the right hand side valve.

I spoke to the installers about it, and they just tightened it up which seemed to do the trick, however I have just noticed that the valve (or I think it is the valve - pic attached the big silver thing attached to the radiator!) is leaking again.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Many Thanks,

Where is it leaking from, the larger nut between rad and valve, or smaller one where pipe joins to valve?

I would say you need a new valve, although the pic is slightly blurred, looks like it has leaked through the gland - wouldn't be anything to do with what the installer of the new boiler done.

Yes, good point, may be the gland under the white knob. Can you remove it to check?

May pull straight off, or you may need to remove a screw from centre of knob first.

I would have thought the installer would have checked that.

Probable quicker to remove and fit a new valve, and have done with it.

So do this again?

As the installers tried this already and I am not sure if its as tight as it can go?

If the leaks from the green joints, turn the rad off at the valves both ends, drain it, undo the joint and put some sealing compound on it, such as LS-X, Hawk White, etc etc.
Reconnect, vent the rad, and refill if if you have a sealed system

I still think it might be the gland, there appears to be a water mark down the side of the valve
