Hi guys.

First post here. There will probably be many more in the future as I have just bought a house to renovate.

After taking up the carpets in the front room and dining room/kitchen, I found some parquet flooring which I have also taken up. This parquet was stuck down with what I assume to be bitumen adhesive. The floor to the dining room is also slightly raised compared to the front room by around 7mm.

I want to use self levelling compound over the floor in both of these rooms so that I can install a seamless floor running throughout, in either LVT or possibly engineered wood.

What's the best product(s) to use in this situation? Is it advisable to bring the lower floor up to the level of the higher one first and then apply a thin layer of self levelling over the entire span? Or to do it all in one go?

Cheers,
Connor

Get a self leveler suitable for bitumen.

Level one side to raise then seal.
Then level over the lot

You'll need to:

Uplift old Parquet Blocks
Screed subfloor with a self leveller like Ardex NA or F-Ball 1200
Apply Liquid DPM such as Ardex DPC or F-Ball F77
Screed over Liquid DPM with appropriate self levelling screed and primer (if screed requires)

Then you'll be able to fit your LVT

Go with a Glue Down LVT, Click LVT has a poor reputation in the flooring trade.
