This does seem to be a somewhat odd/trivial question (given the ready availability of such leads) but, if one is looking for legal technicalities, if it is sold without a kettle lead, then I suppose it could be argued that it was NOT (as sold) "an item which plugs into a mains outlet" - which might well mean that it didn't come within the scope of some of the legislation. Can anyone advise if it's legal for a business to sell electrical items in the UK that plug in to a mains outlet via a detachable kettle lead, without actually supplying any kettle lead with the item?
