Semi puched holes are designed with the idea you can tap the disc out,but how easy it is depends on the depth of punching.
So you do not distort the surrounding area it would be wise to support the surrounding area with a wooden block with a recess or hole slightly bigger then the disc

Use the wood!! But you can also use a small pilot drill, to go around the recessed tap hole drilling holes fairly close, and then its easier to tap out. Use the wood to support the side of the sink you use, as the drill may burst out causing damage!!
