Separate circuits for same room.

Hi guys,

Simple question, is it acceptable to put two separately fed socket circuits in the same room?

Kitchen is 5M wide and wanted half on one circuit, opposite end on a different circuit. Would this be frowned upon?

It would be more than acceptable - hence far from frowned upon. Electrically speaking, the more circuits the better!

Yes and is best advised to do so, it is not unusual to have 4 circuits in kitchen that supply socket/sockets.
I generally have above worktop sockets and random lower mounted sockets on one circuit, then have one or sometime two circuits for heavy load appliances such as laundry and dishwasher. Then a circuit that covers the cooking appliances (hob/oven) not always socket though. And I like to have the FF on a separate circuit if possible and also the boiler, although not on a socket.

This is all acceptable and definitely not frowned upon!

There are requirements you must follow, such RCD protection, safe routing of cables, correct current carrying capacity of cable and correctly rated breaker.
This should all be tested to prove it is safe to use.

I always love looking at a CU that has several 32A MCBs all helpfully marked as "sockets".

I put a little coloured dot sticker to show which circuit things are on.

Ensure that circuits are properly labelled at the consumer unit as sometimes people forget to test for dead on every point ... don't ask me how I know that.

Yes, and very practical too. A lot quicker to apply than using Letraset and clear varnish on each one.

What about having half a kitchen, and the room directly above that half, on one circuit, and the other half of the kitchen, and the room directly above that half on another. Rooms above are bedrooms and have 4 socket outlets each.

Talking purely socket outlets now, you would have 9 sockets on one circuit, and 7 on the other, but you'd have kitchen and bedroom sockets on the same circuit. Still acceptable?

It is still acceptable, but for safety reason it would be advised that a notice is placed at the board identifying what parts these circuits serve.
