Just download SP3, Windows XP.
Lost Google tool bar, reinstalled it, do a search finds very little, horrible display.
Apart from doing a restore, any suggestions.

Er, that depends on exactly what you mean by "doing a restore".

SP3, like all other MS updates, has a habit of re-setting all of your search options, homepages etc. back to Microsoft. I know it's not quite the same thing as you mentioned but I use the built in search on IE7 which I semi-regularly seem to have to default back to Google from MS Live, as below. (click the down arrow by the maginfying glass to get the options)

I'm curious - how do you do it "a bit at a time"?

I was told there were files to d/load, I d/loaded, select expert install & selected items 1 at a time, Restarted pc after each part & installed.
All I know nows is I have no reminders & the pc is running as before.
