Hi I have had my Servis for a few years, a month or so ago I had it on and it tripped the electrics, it started again once I'd put the power on but the water was only a bit of a trickle. Since then once it gets to the end part of the cycle - when its draining and spinning it makes this terrible whinning noise - which is getting louder each time. It is ok if it's filling and doing the washing bit. There was a slight smell the first time it did this but now this has gone. Does this sound expensive?

It sounds as if you have at least two problems!

Blocked inlet filter or faulty fill valve.

If its the drain pump making the noise then it does that at the end of each part of the cycle not just at the end of the complete wash.

It might just be a bit of debris in the pump. Most are openable or allow blockages can be pulled through the inlet or outlet. If you are able to spin the rotor you may be able to feel something binding.

If you are just bad at describing the problem it may just be failing main drum bearings or just motor bearings although thats less common. Either of these are usually £100 plus.
