Hi. We had a sewer blockage last week that Anglian took 4 hours to remove. They thought they were hitting turns in the pipes when it was just solids which we now know could be sand and mud along with sewage. Next door have the manhole, 20 metres away we have an inspection chamber. It is a straight run through from one to the other. They jetted it from the manhole and it cleared.

Now we have a rodding point, it is on our drive so cars go over it. Anglian looked and said it's full of sand and left it alone saying maybe it is redundant. It wasn't until they were gone that it occured to me that the blockage could be due to that rodding point. I looked inside and the clay pipe is broken up.

I have a local and reputable company coming week after next to do a camera survey.. are we likely looking at digging it all up? We know the owner before us extended the drive over the garden and the rodding point must have been under the grass at that point instead of under the drive.

Bit late to the party, but that looks fairly complete to me, whilst it's cracked, there's nothing of substance missing that could have gone done the pipe. I'd look at getting the broken section replaced, and then the top end protecting with some concrete as required to strengthen it.

See how you get on going forward, if it keeps blocking, then AW may camera the line to see what's going on.

Thank you.
It does have concrete around the entrance.
When you get to as far down as you can see in the pipe, it turns back on itself and there it’s rock solid. Anglian had a Quick Look and it was full of mud and sand so they just ignored it.
