My neighbour has had External wall insulation installed, previously the gutters on our roofs were joined and the down pipe runs down my property.
Now because of the wall insulation her gutter facia has moved out so its no longer level with my property so a contionous level gutter between both properties is no longer possible.
The neighbours installers were about to fit a new downpipe in the neighbours property but the neighbour is insisting they do not do that as they don't want a downpipe on their property and are asking the installers to cut into my cutter and make joint somehow! as previously the gutters were joint and the down pipenin my house.

What they are doing does not seem to be correct, since our front house walls are no longer level we must have separate down pipes. Am I correct in this thinking l, are there any regulations that govern this?

I cannot see how they can zig-zag a gutter. If they have moved the gutter out from it's original position, then I would wonder if it was still effective in catching the run-off from the roof?

Either way, it is a shared gutter, and downpipe, if your neighbour has caused it to be modified - it is their responsibility to ensure it works as effectively as before. If theirs is satisfactory, then they could perhaps stand the cost of yours being modified/ spaced away from the wall, to match theirs?

Yes that is a fair point if they insist they don't want a downpipe they can pay to have mine pushed out so its level again, but I doubt they will entertain that given the cost. Here is a pic of how it looks at present

Had a new roof and down pipe for shared gutter was my side , roof changed gutter level so just installed a hopper and ran both gutters to it.

Could join into the existing downpipe with a junction or via a hopper, but given that they've used square gutter, and the difference in the profile of the walls now, they'll need a plethora of bends to join the two.

I wouldn't be so keen on a Hopper as they can fill with rubbish and block, if you do go down that route, then make sure the downpipe from next door discharges cleanly into the Hopper as not to splash back onto your wall and cause a damp issue.

A new Downpipe would be preferable (and easier!) in my view, given that they've altered the status quo I'd insist they either join to the existing downpipe with a junction, or fit their own downpipe. (Which it seems the Installer were planning to do anyway...)
